How can I use Audible the most effectively?
Now, I’m not going to lie, I consider myself a bit of an Audible pro. I have been a member of the platform for over five years and haven’t looked back.
I registered on the platform when I was traveling, to help save space. But now Audible is a big part of my daily life.
These are the five secrets and techniques I use to maximize my Audible subscription.

1. Make sure you use your credits before the expire
Although it may be obvious, the first tip is crucial.
If you’re like me you probably have five or six monthly subscriptions by the time you include Netflix, Audible, Kindle Unlimited and everything else.
That means it can be hard to keep track of what you use and what you don’t.
Now, the cool thing about Audible credits is that they don’t technically expire. There are limits to the number of credits that you can earn, but this depends on what plan you choose.
For example, if your plan says you can store up to five credits, you’ll lose credit six, seven etc.
2. The hidden Audible Silver membership saves you money
A common issue I see with casual audiobook listeners is that they don’t need a book every month.
In fact, they’re lucky to use a book every two months.
They often feel as though they’re throwing money away because they don’t use all their credits.
Well, there is a sneaky hidden ‘silver membership’ for Audible that they don’t tell you about.
You get a second credit for every two months with the silver membership.
It’s great that you can still enjoy the full benefits of full-price memberships.
How can you obtain an Audible Silver Member?
While the plan isn’t offered, it is still easy to get. All you have to do is click to cancel your membership and when prompted, mention that you don’t use the platform enough. Audible will then provide you with their silver plan, to help you stay onboard.
3. WhisperSync allows you to mix Audible with Kindle
WhisperSync is available for Kindle book readers who also use Audible. It syncs audio and Kindle readings so that you can continue from where you are at.
Sometimes the Kindle plus the audiobook can be more affordable than the original purchase.

4. Return books you don’t like
I love Audible’s return policy.
If you don’t like the book, you can return it without any questions as long as it is within a year of purchase.
However, this isn’t a policy that’s there to exploit. If Audible see you’re returning every book and getting credits they’ll eventually offer you a ‘please explain’.
However, if a book isn’t up to your standard or isn’t what you like, returning it is easy. These are the instructions for the Audible help page.
- Your website Account Details Page on the Audible Desktop Site
- Click Order History.
- Click Retour You can also click on the book to which you would like to return.
- Click on the link to select your return reason. Retour.
A confirmation will be displayed on your screen once you have returned the book.
- Click here www.audible.com Register on your device, and then sign in.
- Tap Menü Follow up My Account.
- Tap Order History.
- Select the book that interests you and tap on it.
- Tap Retour.
- Tap on the reason you wish to return the book. Retour.
By returning any books you don’t like, you can make sure that your money isn’t wasted on Audible.
5. Maximize sales
If you’re an Amazon or Kindle shopper then you know that there are some kick-ass sales on the regular.
Audible is not an exception. Audible members get audiobooks at a discount, and can take advantage of daily specials.
When a book I have in my wishlist is on sale, I’ll often buy it outright rather than spend my monthly credit on the title.
6. Don’t spend your credit on cheap books
Speaking of buying books outright, there are times that you’ll find an audiobook at a low regular price. You can find some for as little as $5 or even less than $10.
Personally, I don’t waste a credit on a cheap audiobook and will save them for expensive titles.
Also, ensure you verify the book’s purchase price.
7. Get the best out of this free content
A huge plus when using Audible is all the content available to members for free.
You can enjoy a wide range of books and podcasts that are available for free to Audible Prime Members and Amazon Prime Members.
Extra Bonus: You can use Audible offline
Audible has been designed to be portable. You can make use of the app offline to get the best out of it.
After you have purchased a book, and added it to your library you will be able to download it and play it offline. This is a free benefit of the memberships and is great to use when you’re out and about. I’ll often download titles so I can listen at the gym or in the car.
There are many things to love about Audible. However, if ever wondered ‘what is the best way to use Audible?’ then you’ll be able to get the ultimate bang for your buck with these tips.
